Madeleine Yong is an experienced play therapist, clinical supervisor, and HRDC-accredited trainer with over 25 years of experience across corporate, non-profit and clinical sectors. A pioneer in child protection and trauma healing, she founded P.S. The Children, Malaysia’s first NGO to break the silence on child sexual abuse and has worked from high-risk communities and shelter homes to schools, courtroom advocacy, and national policy reform, driving change from grassroots to systems level. She now serves as Co-Founder of Power of Play, a trauma-informed clinical practice offering therapy, supervision, and professional development training.
Madeleine holds an MA in Practice-Based Play Therapy (UK) and is a Registered Play Therapist (UK), Certified Synergetic Play Therapist (USA), SandStory Therapist (UK), and EMDR Practitioner (Australia), working with children, adolescents, and adults. Her clinical work supports children facing school difficulties, trauma, sexual abuse, aggression, anxiety, grief, emotional regulation challenges, ADHD, and relationship struggles. She is also a Course Director for the Academy of Play and Child Psychotherapy (UK) and Chief Executive of Play Therapy Malaysia. Her contributions to the field of child protection, child rights, and play therapy have been recognised with several awards, including the 2006 Play Therapy International Award for her pioneering play therapy initiatives in Malaysia.
