Description
The Post Qualifying Certificate in Play and Creative Arts Counselling with Adults is an advanced professional training programme designed for qualified Play and Creative Arts Therapists who have completed the CCYP qualification, or equivalent external training, and wish to develop specialist skills for working therapeutically with adults using creative, relational, and evidence-informed approaches.
This highly practical and experiential programme combines counselling theory, attachment-informed practice, trauma-informed approaches, and creative arts methods to enable practitioners to support adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, bereavement, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and emotional challenges. Through experiential learning, reflective practice, skills development, case discussion, and clinical application, participants will deepen their understanding of adult development and strengthen their confidence in applying creative therapeutic approaches across the lifespan.
The programme explores key areas including attachment and relationships, adult development, trauma and adversity, grief and loss, emotional regulation, resilience, life transitions, ethical and professional issues, risk assessment, and the integration of creative arts approaches with adult counselling practice. Participants will develop enhanced therapeutic flexibility and a broader range of interventions suitable for working with complex presentations and supporting emotional growth, healing, and self-discovery.
Successful graduates will gain a nationally and internationally recognised post-qualifying award and, where eligible, may obtain an additional title on the Professional Standards Authority Accredited Register of Play and Creative Arts Therapists as a Certified Play and Creative Arts Counsellor with Adults, recognising advanced competencies in creative therapeutic work with adult clients.
