Description
This intensive 5 day advanced practitioner programme is designed for professionals working therapeutically with children and young people who want to deepen their understanding and practice of therapeutic group facilitation. Drawing from creative approaches in play therapy, attachment theory, trauma informed practice, emotion focused approaches, group psychotherapy and creative art therapies, the course offers an integrative and highly practical approach to group work
Participants will complete four modules :
– The Foundations of therapeutic group work
– Group dynamics, relational processes and therapeutic presence
– Creative arts, play and emotion focused group work
– Psychoeducation, ethics, safeguarding and programme design
Participants will be supported to develop groups including:
– anxiety management
– Emotional regulation
– Self esteem
– Neurodiversity informed
– Friendship, peer relations and social confidence
– Grief and loss
– Identity and belonging
– School transition groups
The final module will include an assessment and reflective integration day where by participants will be invited to deliver a short presentation demonstrating the application of their learning drawing from their experiences and learning over the 4 previous days. To be eligible for the assessment participants should have facilitated group work with children or young people.
The training is experiential, reflexive and skills based, combining live teaching, discussion and creative exercises. Participants will leave with a practical toolbox of therapeutic group activities alongside a deeper understanding of how relational and emotional processes unfold within groups.

– Camera and microphone access are required
– Cameras should remain on throughout the training to support relational and experiential learning
