I am a Registered General Nurse, Accredited Play/Creative Arts Therapist specialising in Sand play, Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist, I have an MSc in Bereavement Studies and a Certificate in Environmental Arts Therapy. My therapy room was built beside a woodland to enable clients to benefit from nature’s healing qualities and the sense of calm it creates. It has large windows overlooking woodland and while inside you have a strong sense of being amongst trees. I want to create a trusting, empathic space in which the young person can feel safe to express their feelings and emotions freely. Through Play/Creative Arts therapy a child learns how to cope with feelings in a safe and constructive way. I work with the young person through the mediums of Sand, Art, Music, Movement, Puppets, Therapeutic Stories, Nature and Drama. Play/Creative Arts therapy allows children to confront and resolve their concerns in a safe way. I work closely with parents to ensure they can also support their children in this process.
