Julie Shorrock
Hello, I’m Julie. I am an accredited play therapist with 10 years’ experience as a play therapist and over 20 years’ experience as a primary school teacher before moving into therapeutic work with children and families. I now work as a play therapist within a Local Authority therapeutic team, supporting care-experienced children who have experienced trauma, loss, attachment difficulties and other emotional challenges. I have completed Levels 1 and 2 training in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) and currently completing the DDP practicum. I am also training as a Clinical Supervisor with PTUK. I believe every child deserves to feel safe, understood and accepted. Through play, creativity and a trusting therapeutic relationship, I aim to provide a space where children can express themselves, make sense of their experiences and build emotional resilience at their own pace. For supervisees, I also apply the same ethos, creating a safe and validating space where you and your practice as a play therapist can be supported and developed. I can offer creative supervision to qualified or trainee play therapists at weekends or evenings and soon I will have some availability on Mondays. I can offer in-person supervision or online if in-person is not viable. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, friends and family, walking my dog, going to gym classes and travelling; things that help me recharge and connect with myself and others.
