Athina Vlachou

I am an experienced therapist with a deep passion for supporting the emotional and cognitive development of children, adolescents, and adults. Drawing from my background in pedagogy, psychology, and therapeutic play, I bring over a decade of experience to my work in Greece and China. During this time, I have honed my ability to create empathic, secure environments whether in the classroom or the playroom where growth and healing can unfold. My practice is grounded in current neuroscience and attachment theory. I emphasize co-regulation and the integration of mind, brain, and body, believing that people thrive when they feel safe and understood. Play therapy is at the heart of my approach with children, as it offers a natural and enjoyable way for them to explore big emotions, express themselves freely, and work through challenges at their own pace. I have a particular interest in neurodivergence, especially ADHD and giftedness in both children and adults. Supporting neurodivergent individuals means celebrating their unique strengths while addressing the areas where they may need understanding and tailored support. In my practice, I offer individual play therapy sessions, creative person-centered counselling for adolescents and adults, family counselling, and clinical supervision. I also work with private schools and child health organizations to provide therapeutic support to children, teachers, and healthcare professionals. My aim is to help every person I work with build resilience, confidence, and a strong sense of self, creating foundations for emotional and mental well-being that last well beyond the therapy room
