Play Therapy UK (PTUK) is delighted to announce the appointment of Sarah Bentley MA, an accredited Play Therapist, as its new Chief Executive Officer, with a two-month hand over period starting on 1st November 2026 and formally taking over the helm on 1st January 2027.
Monika Jephcott will become a Lifetime President of Play Therapy UK.
Sarah brings a distinctive combination of therapeutic expertise, business experience and a longstanding commitment to improving children’s wellbeing. Her appointment will strengthen PTUK’s leadership as the organisation continues to support the development of the Play Therapy profession across the UK.
Following an early career in banking & accounts, Sarah moved into working with children, first as an au pair and nanny, and later in nurseries and schools across the UK, when she gained her relevant qualifications. She subsequently spent more than a decade travelling internationally to promote the Quality Circle Time model created by Jenny Mosley. Sarah then trained as a play therapist, gained accreditation and completed her MA in 2014.
Sarah went on to establish The Safe Space in Chippenham, Wiltshire, where her team of therapists and administrative staff supported 40 children each week.
More recently, Sarah has made a significant contribution to the Child Mental Health Charter, which is supported by PTUK, and has spoken at the Houses of Parliament.
This summer, Sarah stepped in to help deliver a successful Play Therapy UK annual conference following illness within the team. She has ambitious plans for next year’s event.
Sarah combines compassion with a deep understanding of both play therapy and business. She brings energy, sound judgement and a clear commitment to the profession. In her new role, she will focus on strengthening PTUK’s operations and extending the organisation’s reach so that more children across the UK can receive the support they need.
Sarah’s first priority will be to meet PTUK members & will be hosting a members meeting on Monday 26th October 2026 and also on 2nd November 2026 both at 7pm online. Please look out for meeting details in your inbox and on PTUK’s social media channels for joining details.
PTUK would like to take this opportunity to thank Monika Jephcott for her unwavering support, knowledge and commitment to children’s mental health over three decades.
