Course Venue - Golden Jubilee Hotel, Glasgow
APAC is delivering the accredited Certificate in Therapeutic
Play courses at the Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel (formerly known
as the Beardmore Hotel).
The four star hotel is set on the picturesque banks of the
River Clyde less than 20 minutes from Glasgow International Airport, Glasgow
City centre and the beautiful Scottish countryside in nearby Loch Lomond. We
also enjoy quick transfer times to Glasgow city centre, as well as the national
motorway and rail networks. We also have free parking for up to 300 cars, and
our own helipad. Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park is just 20 minutes
to the west and Robert Burns' Ayrshire is just a short drive away.
The site was once part of the William Beardmore and Company
Naval Construction Works. Built by William Beardmore, between 1901 and 1906,
the yard covered nearly 100 acres, making it was one of the largest shipyards
in the UK. It produced a large range of products, including ships of all descriptions,
aircraft, airships, tanks, guns, shells and mines. After World War I, it
constructed locomotives and steel houses. The yard became uneconomic in the
1920s and closed its gates for the last time in 1930. Later used as ROF
Dalmuir, many of the buildings survived into the 1980s, with some shipbreaking
on the site.
The Golden Jubilee National Hospital was built in 1994, as a
private hospital by Health Care International. The hotel, now a conference
venue, was built to accommodate the relatives of the wealthy private patients.
Now owned by the National Health Service.
